About Jessica LaVopa

With a cum laude degree in journalism from SUNY Purchase, Jessica is more than an editor but a plant enthusiast herself. Throughout her career, Jessica has been searching for her niche topic. From writing for her school newspaper to becoming Lead Editor at BackyardBoss, her studies have inspired her. 

Jessicas love for writing was cemented during a study abroad program in 2018 where she was introduced to foregin correspondence classes. Within this time, her love for the community grew and she moved onto helping others through non-profit work at the Borgen Project. An online blog dedicated to advocation for poverty.

In 2021, Jessica searched for ways to enter print publications, landing at R. Couri Hay Creative Public Relations as an editorial intern. Here she worked closely with both Social Life Magazine and Fashion Mannuscript, but her journey did not end here. 

Jessica has always adored gardening, as she grew up tending to her grandmothers garden and mothers long-lived red edged dracaena. 
Now her houseplant collection includes everything from pothos and snake plants to polka dot begonias. And BackyardBoss has only inspired that collection more.
