Autumn is hands-down my favorite time of year. The crisp air, the drifting smell of wood fires, the stunning colors of the leaves as they change, drift, and fall. There’s just something about this time of year that feels cozy, inviting, and wonderful.

So, that means I love to decorate for the season! Inside my home, I put out the orange pumpkins and turkeys. But outside, I like to dress things up, too. From banners to garden stakes and garden flags, I love it all! But not everyone wants to spend hours shopping for the best outdoor fall and Halloween decorations as much as I do. For you, I’ve created this great list of the best choices to decorate that front porch, garden, and yard.

    Two large orange banners

I grew up in the South, so hearing this saying is so familiar. And what a fun way to show off that comforting, warm Southern charm than with some banners for your doorway? These vibrant banners welcome the season and your guests with a flair.

    artificial maple leaves

Right outside my window is the most gorgeous maple tree. I love watching it change colors, then going out and collecting the fallen leaves as Autumn hits full force. I often use the leaves to decorate little things at home, but I’ve never managed a garland.

    Garden flag with sunflowers

There’s something about sunflowers that whispers “fall!” in such a lovely way. And what better way to celebrate the season than a fun garden flag like this one? This beautiful little flag is easy to install, too – just post it right into the garden or lawn.

    Cute autumn-themed picture pillows

For that sofa on the porch, some throw pillows is the perfect way to change with the seasons without a lot of effort. And these cute pillows, each with a different pattern, is the perfect choice for that easy season change.

    Maple leaf garland for indoor/outdoor

I’m all about lights and garlands. This one from OCATO Outside is the perfect blend of lights and leaves for a festive fall décor piece you can leave up from September to December when the season changes again.

3-piece garden stake set, metal pumpkins

For some fun, super simple autumn touches, grab these pumpkin garden stakes. They’re gorgeous and oh, so easy to put out. Stake ‘em around the garden, the front yard, or even in some potted plants on the porch.

Welcome to Our Home door hanger

One of my favorite pieces of décor is always the door sign. And this fun little sign is so pretty! It will help your guests feel welcomed as they walk in, thanks to the lovely touches. Just hang on a nail on the door for a super-easy touch to welcome the season.

Autumn leaf & pumpkin light string

Another twist on leaves and lights is this darling light garland. The leaves add that autumnal pop, but the lights do, too, thanks to their pumpkin shape! So much fun while also being elegant enough for a nice last-of-season dinner party by the firepit.

Faux pumpkin with flowers and leaves

For a nice touch on the picnic table outback, grab this faux pumpkin “vase” filled with lovely autumnal flowers. It’s a super simple way to dress up the area in less than 2 minutes. Or, place the vase on the stoop, the windowsill, or anywhere to bring that special touch of Autumn.

    Autumn wreath for door

Wreaths are another favorite of mine. And this lighted up pumpkin, pinecone, leafy wreath is just gorgeous! It runs on batteries and has a timer so you can decide when it lights up. The battery-powered lights and leaves make it really stand out.

    Colorful Autumn door wreath

Here’s another gorgeous wreath to consider for that front door. This one uses autumn leaves and berries to add some brightness to the cooling world outside, while inviting your guests and neighbors to enjoy the beauty of the changing season.

Burlap welcome mat with 3 gnomes

And what could be more welcoming than an adorable gnome welcome mat? One of these is the perfect touch for “falling up” your porch for the best season of the year! Welcome guests, wipe feet, and show off your autumnal bent for coziness all in one.

Fun Décor for the Best Season

The best way to decorate your landscape for any season is by using many pieces that all say something to you. So, whether you’re into cute stuff like me (gnomes!) or go for more elegant touches, combine things for the perfect look.

I’d doll up that front porch with the gnome welcome mat, engaging visitors directly with a cute invite that shows off some whimsey. The mat also, of course, provides some functionality for your doorstep as those storms roll in and autumn turns cooler and wetter.

Additionally, I’d especially recommend the maple leaf pumpkin light strings for that extra special autumn touch that works for both Halloween and Thanksgiving. The lights pop at night and the leaves during the day.

I’d also recommend the faux pumpkin vase in particular, because, well, it’s a warm, inviting décor piece you can use on the stoop, the table, on a shelf by the door, or just about anywhere for a seasonal touch you don’t have to mess with.
