Chicken Thighs and Potatoes on the Grill

It's been a long week. We've had torrential rains, I've been to the ER and on a bland diet all week, but I have some chicken thighs and potatoes that I want to cook up this weekend. I'll probably wait until tomorrow just to be sure my stomach can handle it, but even if not, I can always save it for Monday/Tuesday, or freeze it. I am so craving real food again, and chicken thighs always make my mouth water, even when I'm under the weather.

What are you cooking? Is the weather nice where you are? It's a beautiful sunny day, and I know the neighbors will all be grilling as well.

Today going to grill some chicken legs that my wife wants. Also intend to smoke some short ribs.

Hope you are feeling better. I thought of you when I heard of the torrential rains down your way. I hope you fared well through it. I see some of the news coverage! WoW! There weather here has been all over the place. One day it is summer and warm and the next day it is windy and cold. I will be glad when we finally start getting some half decent weather so we can get out and enjoy it.

I cooked the chicken thighs the other day. I've never cooked chicken legs (or turkey legs, for that matter) on the grill. I cleaned out the grill, so it's ready to go for my next cooking session. The cover had blown off, and water had gotten into the insides, and it was a big mess. I think I've finally gotten all of the charcoal out from under my fingernails.

I typically store my charcoal in the back room, which is right off the porch where I grill, but I got tired of having it sitting around. I cleaned out an empty cat litter pail, and since it's plastic and sealed, I can now store the charcoal on the back porch, without worrying about it getting ruined. This is a small house, and I need every inch I can get.

That is a great idea for stouring charcoal. I never thought of using a cat liter pail. I will have to keep that in mind.

That's the beauty of it, we can learn a lot of useful things here and expand all we know about bbq.

@L_B I love the cat litter buckets. I typically have a few empty ones on hand, because I go through a decent amount of litter. I have some larger recycling bags that I keep in another, and I just tear them as needed, without the roll flopping all over the place, since it's contained within the pail. I also have another where I store face masks (the little doctor type ones) and gardening gloves, as well as a few of my smaller yard tools. That way, i can keep the supplies handy, without having to worry about animals tearing them up, or them getting waterlogged from rain.

Yeah, many times the least expected things are the best ones and we can get them cheaper.
