What's the secret to deep frying something and it not be greasy? Last time hubby did French fries and onion rings in the deep fryer, they came out really greasy. Help!

Well, you are dipping them in oil, so there is no way you can just get rid of the oil feeling to it. The only thing I can suggest is that you lay a bunch of paper towels down and then lay the french fries and onion ring on top of them when they are removed from the fryer.

Doing what Josh suggested will really help. Put 2 regular sized paper towels on a plate and then lay your fried foods out onto it. You'll be surprised how much oil the paper towels soak up!

Another thing to is not to pile on the french fries after removing from the oil. If any of the top layer fries don't touch the paper towels, they will still hold the oil or just drip onto the fries beneath it.

In addition to the tips above, make sure the oil reaches the proper temperature before you put the food in. If the oil isn't hot enough, the food will absorb too much.

Sounds like a plan folks. Thanks. What oil do you use? I think the last time we fried, it was canola oil. Is there one thats better than the other?
