Natural BBQ sauce!

BBQ sauces are often very unhealthy, full of sugar and artificial ingredients. I designed this recipe with health in mind but it is delicious.

Cook an onion in butter (preferably grass fed) until caramelised.
Add a handful of chopped apple for a sweet fruity taste.
Add garlic and fresh chilli (as much as you like), cook for a few minutes.
Add a large pinch of ground cumin, a small handful of smoked paprika, a pinch of cinnamon and a large pinch of ground fennel seeds.
Deglaze the pan with a splash of apple cider vinegar, cook off the acidity, add a tin of chopped tomatoes and a bay leaf.
Add a few slices of grilled, charred aubergine for a smoky taste and add a handful of sliced and roasted sweet potato for even more sweetness.
Simmer until the liquid has reduced and puree in a food processor.

You may want to add some lemon juice at the end.

A BBQ sauce that is actually good for you. I'd be interested to know your opinions on my recipe...
