- 1/2 cup brown sugar packed tightly
- 3 tablespoons kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
stir or shake to mix
- 1 pork shoulder about 8 pounds
- Stink-Eye BBQ sauce or one of your choosing
place pork shoulder in a 5 quart or larger slow cooking on low heat and add 1/2 cup water in the bottom of the sow cooker to prevent burning
cover and cook 6-8 hours
check meat temperature every hour thereafter until it reaches 170 degrees
remove from slow cooker
place in a roasting pan and put in a preheated oven or grill at 500 degrees
cook 15 minutes
remove meat and let it rest 30 minutes
pull meat apart with forks
serve with sauce
