Wildflower Lawns - Where to start?

Like many of you, my lawn is nicely manicured cut grass, mostly Kentucky Bluegrass mix.

I would like to transition my yard, at least part of it, to a wildflower meadow. Does anyone have experience with that and the proper process for making the transition? Do I need to kill my existing grass or can I just overseed with a wildflower mix? Was thinking about going with a seed like https://www.ernstseed.com/xerces-society-seed-mixes/, which has flowers native to Pennsylvania (where I'm from).

You should remove existing plants or apply any herbicide to kill the plants or gross. Its important to kill the existing grass or plants because the existing plant compete with germinating seeds for water, light etc. Remember to use fertilizers at the right time.
