Neem Oil for plants is an essential oil from the Neem tree. It is extracted from the tree itself and turned into an oil that you can use on your houseplants or around your garden. It naturally repels the most harmful insects that can eat your plants and damage them beyond repair.

If you are regularly dealing with these pests, Neem Oil could be a great natural option for keeping your indoor and outdoor plants protected. It thrives while also keeping the pets and children in your home safe.

A Step-By-Step Guide On How To Use Neem Oil For Your Plants

Step 1: Decide Whether Neem Oil Will Work for Your Needs

Neem Oil will not be the best option for every single type of plant. It works best on plants that have smooth surfaces. If you have a plant such as a fern or cactus, it might not be the best choice as a pesticide. Neem Oil works by smothering insects already on the plant and poisoning the ones that might get on the plant in the future. If there are no smooth surfaces for the oil to cling to, it won’t function correctly.

Step 2: Make the Mixture

You can buy concentrated Neem Oil in almost any garden supply or hardware store. It should be 100% pure and cold-pressed since you are going to be making your solution. Take the organic Neem Oil extract and mix half a teaspoon of it with a full spray bottle of warm water and a few drops of liquid soap. Then, shake the spray bottle as vigorously as you can. It’s important to remember that Neem Oil will not mix well with warm water, which is why you want to add liquid soap. You will have to continue shaking the bottle as you apply the mixture.

Step 3: Mist the Plants

After mixing up the solution, you can then mist your plants with it as liberally as you would like. Neem Oil is not toxic to other animals or children in your home, so it’s okay to add as much as is needed. Make sure to mist the entire plant, including the base and the top, to ensure that the whole plant is covered.

Step 4: Apply with a Cotton Ball

If there are parts of your plant that the mister won’t reach, do spot treatment and apply the mixture with a cotton ball. Unscrew the sprayer of the bottle and turn it over on top of a cotton ball. Make sure to shake it before each application. It will keep the oil from settling in the water and ensure you have an even ratio of water and oil. Dab the solution onto the hard-to-reach parts of the plants and plant leaves, and make sure that you have covered the entire thing.

Step 5: Repeat as Needed

One application of your Neem Oil mixture might not be enough to keep pests completely at bay. You might have to keep treating your plants to make it work as well as it needs to. If you are currently dealing with an active pest infestation on your plants, you should do one application every day until the infestation has been removed. If you are trying to prevent pests, one treatment a week will be enough to keep unwanted infestations away.

Keep Your Plants Safe With Neem Oil

If you have houseplants, you will want to make sure they are as protected as possible. Neem Oil is a great way to get rid of active infestations and prevent any future pest issues moving forward. By using this all-natural essential oil, you can protect your houseplants while avoiding adverse effects and keeping your home safe from all the other living things inside it.
