Ron Finley: A Guerilla Gardener In South Central LA

So, South Central LA has been renamed by the city as just South la in an attempt to hide the fact that it’s a food desert. But Ron Finlay isn’t buying it. His home town is one of the leaders in obesity in America and there’s no good reason for it.

The city owns more than 26 square acres of vacant lots and has no real definitive plans on what to do with this empty, unused land. What a waste! Just think of the fresh produce you could grow on that land. Just think of the wasted opportunity to not only feed the city, but improve the economy. Ron Finlay knows. And he says what’s on his mind in this really entertaining and informative Ted Talk. Check it out!
